SURPRISE PROPOSAL | ENGAGEMENT SESSION | DAVID + REAGAN
Boy were we all nervous - FOR MONTHS!!! We -- the Hopman Jewelers family, Reagan's mother, and David -- have been planning this proposal for a long time behind Reagan's back. She has had her eye on this dreamy diamond and sapphire engagement ring for months. And she didn't know that it would soon be hers.
How it all worked out: a customer put this amazing dream ring on hold. And holy cow this ring is beautiful from Hopman Jewelers. It's an estate ring with an oval blue Sapphire in the center with the most unique halo!! Reagan admired it from day one and would try it on like crazy. Heart eyes foreverrr. So when this customer decided NOT to buy it we set it up so David could purchase it under a fake name. At this time, Reagan was only working on weekends so it was incredibly easy.
They celebrated their five year anniversary recently so this is where the photo shoot idea came along. I've taken their photos before -- and may i add that they are the easiest people to photograph -- so Reagan wasn't suspicious whatsoever. David spent so much time planning what Reagan was going to wear, who was going to do her hair and makeup, made sure she was scheduled to get a manicure, picked the location, received his blessings, and kept this secret for about 6 months. We started out the session hiking around Cobus Creek until we reached their special spot. A safe place where they have always visited when changes were happening in their relationship. A place they come to when they need to reflect on their growth and love. It only made sense that he pops the question in this very spot. The plan was to have her face the water for some individual shots of herself. I would give him the go ahead to grab her by the hand, express his love to her and then ask her on one knee!! Her reaction was priceless! I couldn't stop watching her expression that I forgot to take a photo of him asking her!! The moment was so perfect!! His proposal was so heartfelt, so pure, so intimate, and so thoughtful. Her best friend, Jane, was my right hand gal and there to witness it alongside me. She was always a part of the plan and I'm happy I hung out with her finally! We explained the entire ring situation to Jane, who drove an hour to help Reagan on this important day at 7:30 in the morning. Reagan couldn't believe it!
We cried, we laughed, we all hugged. It was perfect.
After David popped the question, we spent the rest of the evening chasing the last bit of golden hour, eating delicious cake with her family and drinking champagne. Thank you David for including us and being so thoughtful! I felt so honored to photograph the happiness and love after the proposal. To witness you two and the support you give each other and how passionate you are to each other is beautiful. I am blessed and fortunate to know you guys! Xo
